Dear mom, April 6, 2015
I am happy to inform you
that I had a great week! We did a lot of biking though. It was fun
though. How was work this last week? And yes I did get the package. I loved it!
But it is going to take me a few weeks to eat all of that candy. We went to the
church to watch conference. It was great! I guess President Monson has alzhiemers
and isn't doing too well...... That made me sad when another missionary told me
that. But the Lord will prevail!!! There is a special spirit that comes from
watching conference in a dedicated building. I miss burning ditches. I
smelt a fire the other day when it was super hot and 0% humidity. And I was
like awe man someone is burning a ditch! That's cool that Brandy is taking the
pictures for prom. Are they going to pay her to do it? How was that movie? I
saw a poster for it at Walmart and was pretty bummed lol oh well! As for the
shirts I guess anytime would be nice. We have a mall out here by us so I could
just get them here.
So this week I was
reading in the Old Testament. I read all
of the gospels accounts of the Last Supper up to the Resurrection. Then
yesterday I read it again out of Matthew. I love that verse, He is not here;
for He is risen. It is and was the greatest miracle of all time. The single
greatest act of love that has ever happened and it was performed for me and you
and all of us. I feel really special that He died and rose for me. That I may
live again. It also
makes me think. If he gave his life for
me . What am I willing to give to him? That question has been on my mind all
week. I thought that it was interesting how a lot of general conference was on
marriage and families. Not going to lie.... It made me excited ha ha I hear
missionaries say that they don't want to get married, but to be honest I look
forward to finding someone I want to spend eternity with. Someone that is just
as great as my mom! I love you so much mom!! I hope that you have a great week!
Miss you!!! Love you!! Be safe!

Hey Yall,
Well this last week was a crazy one.
I had the opportunity to help with transfers due to one of the assistants being
sick. I also received the assignment to be a trainer and a district leader. I
am training an Elder Reed. He is from Orem, Utah and is well he is pretty
green. I love serving with him though. He is 6' 2" and I am short so just
imagine the tow of us walking towards you. We have seen a string miracles
involving one of our investigators. First of all he wasn't really progressing
and wasn't really listening at all. He has made a complete 180. He has been to
church two weeks in a row, has excepted a baptismal date for April 25, and
committed to quit drinking and smoking. I have been doing great here and love
this work. It truly is Gods work and he is leading it. Jesus is the Savior and
the Redeemer of the world and He lives. I love him and I love serving him. I
hope you all have a blessed week!

I am doing great!! I really enjoyed
my first week. I was nervous to lead district meeting but I enjoyed it and
there was great spirit there. So as district leader I am responsible for
planning and carrying out district meetings for my district which is a total 8
missionaries. So we have a meeting once a week. I also am supposed to go on an
exchange with all of the elders in my district and one exchange with the zone
leaders. I also call my district a few times a week to see how they are doing
and to get numbers so I can report them. My companion is Elder Reed and he is
from Orem Utah. Its okay lol I like questions. Charly is crazy! She said its
never too soon to prepare to come home. I told her that I would write her.
Sounds like Bethany when she bit the dentist in Basins finger. So I don't know
if I told you or not but there is a less active out her that knows Summer
Olsons mom and he told her that I was serving here. I thought that was cool. I
wasn't sure who she was then he showed me a picture and she was holding the
youngest boy. I cant remember what his name is now. Yeah Bethy told me that
Stevie is getting married I think that is cool. I just found out that Kelsey is
going to BYUI in April. I think that will be really good for her! That's cool
about Stephanie and Brandon. They will have their hands full! Right now I have
been reading the Jesus the Christ and found out some really cool things about
the birth of Christ. I am also in Mosiah 15. Im behind but I will catch back
up. I didn't have much time to email this last week. So something exciting I
get to do next month! We were told that Salt Lake approved us to go to the
temple in Raleigh North Carolina. We get to go down and go through a session
then go to the stake center and do some trainings. I am so excited!! I just
need to get a member to loan me a temple packet. I literally jumped with joy
when President Baker said that. Did they send you a picture of me and my new
comp.? If not I will get one to you! So you said you ordered me scriptures
correct? When will they get here? And No need to worry about me getting cold
its all part of the experience. But it does get pretty chilly biking in the
snow. We tried to bike on it last week and it was pretty much ice. My greenie
slipped off his bike on his first day. I felt bad but it was good way to break
him in. Well that's about it for me. I am so great full that Heavenly Father
allowed me to be your son. Its been hard being away this long but I know that
it is all worth it. I love you so much mom! I am excited for you start working,
I really hope you enjoy it as well! Have a blessed week! Love you!!

Well
I hope yall had a great Christmas. I had a good one. It was really nice
to get to Skype with all of my family. That was by far the best part of
the day. It was a lot of fun getting to spend the day with a few
members in the ward here. We had a cool experience on Saturday. We were
tracting and we knocked on this one door. No one answered. So as we were
walking away a lady opened up. She actually invited us in. That has
never happened to me on my whole mission. It was really cool. We were
able to teach the restoration to her than set up a return appointment.
Let me tell you a little back ground on this. We have all been
struggling finding new investigators in my district. This month in the
mission we are focusing on having the faith to find. I have been praying
and fasting that at least one companionship would find a new
investigator. We had planned to go teach a potential. When they weren't
there, I felt like we should go tract a street that we drove by on the
way there. Its just wonderful to think that if we will put our trust in
the Lord and listen to the promptings we receive, it will always end up
better than it would of if we would of done it on our own. Every good
idea is not your own, it comes from our Father in Heaven. This week was a
pretty good one and this next is the beginning of a new year. As yall
look forward to this new year I encourage yall to set realistic goals
for yourself. Then kneel down and council with Heavenly Father. Tell Him
your goals and plead for his help in accomplishing them. I promise you
that as you put your trust in him, He will give you the strength to
accomplish all things. I pray for all of you to have a happy and safe
New Years. I love you all!

Dear Mom,
So
when we started skyping the lady whos house we were at hadn't skyped
her son yet. I guess she walked into the other room and started bawling
and said " theres a mom talking to her missionary in there" It was
really good to Skype with you! I miss you so much! It didn't really make
me homesick though! I was surprised I thought it would. So how was the
rest of your day? Mine was pretty good. We just napped then went and
hung out at a members house with those two awesome dogs!! My dog is
still the best though! I am way behind you on reading. Im only in 1
Nephi 18. I need to do some catch up reading. Are the girls mad at me
for not emailing them personally anymore? Its raining here a lot today
and is fairly cold. One of my companions leave today to go home. It kind
of makes me jealous, but im happy for him and look forward to my day.
When it comes lol I know it will. I was telling dad that next time we
Skype I will almost be half way done. Its not that I don't love my
mission, I just look forward to coming home. I love those pecans! They
are super good! Thank you so much for the presents! I wasn't expecting
any of it cause I thought you were just sending gift cards. I loved it
all though. Especially the bag of candy from Candy Town! Have you been
to the new Scheels? They are building one just like it here right now.
Wont be done till im already home. Easton looks so big now! Chloe has so
much hair! hearing that Ian is speaking more was the best Christmas
Present I received though! You have no idea how hard I have prayed for
him. I got some shirts from my companion and they are super comfy and
fit great. He is leaving so he just gave them to me. I also bought his
slacks and they are way nice. Nike Golf pants are what they are and they
feel like pajama pants! Nothing really happened this last week since we
skyped though. We just did a lot of tracting and I slept a lot while my
companion packed. We still got a lot done though. It was pretty good
week and I look forward to the next. I love you mom! I hope you have a
great week!! Thank you so much for everything!!
Love Jake!!

Well
first of all I just want to wish yall a Very Merry Christmas!! I still
cant believe its been this long so far. I just had my four month mark on
Saturday and it feels like I just left yesterday. I did get moved to
the other side of my district with my district leader and his companion.
Elder Richardson leaves in 8 days and is from Fruit Heights, Utah.
Elder Brown has only been out for 6 weeks longer than me and is from
Kaysville, Utah. They are both really great guys. I love them both and
are both by far my favorite companions. Its a lot of fun to be with them
as well. When we bike somewhere we go super fast. There are a lot of
hills here so when we get to those we just coast down. I have really
come to appreciate the fact that missions are fun. One thing I have
gotten bad at though is writing in my journal. I have been so tired this
week because this area is a lot busier than my old area. We have taught
more lessons in one day here than I did in the last month in my last
area. This last week we had a meeting with the bishop. We are all
struggling with finding new people to teach. He bore his testimony on
how we are all weak without the Lord. On Wednesday all of us and the
bishop fasted for a new investigator. We haven't found them yet but I
know we will. I just want to leave yall with my testimony this week as
my Christmas gift to you. I too know that as to my own strength I am
weak. I am nothing with out my Father in Heaven. Compared to Him I am
nothing, but I am still everything to Him. How great it is that I am
able to kneel down and pray to Him. I know that my savior and redeemer
lives. He suffered for me! He bled for me! He died for me! Because of
that I will be eternally great full. The healing power of the Atonement
is real. I am walking proof of that! I know that through Him I can and
we all can return to live with our Father. I will strive my hardest to
follow him. Serving a mission, even though I have only been out 4
months, has changed me. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I love
that book! There is no doubt in my mind that it is true and that Joseph
Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ that morning. I know that
Christ is the greatest gift of all. That He love me and will do anything
to show me that. I know that families can be together for eternity. I
love that too because I love my family, and friends! These things I know
to be true. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Thank you so much for
all you have done for me and may you have a blessed Christmas. Merry
Christmas!! Love you all!!!
